My Kindergarten Teacher

When I signed up for my phonics class this quarter, I noticed that my professor's name was VERY familiar. I was so excited to see that my kindergarten teacher was going to be teaching our phonics class! It has been 20 years since I have been in Kindergarten, and what a rare opportunity this was to be a student in her class once again. I really enjoyed her class this quarter! Her mannerisms are exactly as I remember, and she brought back alot of happy memories of things that she would do with my kindergarten class. She taught us alot about phonics and gave us some great ideas and advice for when we have a classroom of our own. I am glad that I was able to reunite with her, and I want to stay in touch. She actually lives very close to us.
Last week was our last week of class and final exams for the spring quarter. My Cohort had our last Phonics class at Books and Co. I was sad to say goodbye to her, and got bummed driving to class. As she read an AMAZING inspirational story to us, I began to think about how important teachers are in the lives of children. They truly have a great responsibility to be the best influences on children. I am most happy when I am in the presence of children and I really try to stay positive. I remember kindergarten being a very happy and positive experience and that proves how important teachers are in the lives of young children. Thank you so much for making kindergarten and this quarter such a positive experience for me!

"Why we try to teach children all about life, children teach us what life is all about."
"I touch the future. I teach." -Christa McAuliffe
"It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge."-Albert Einstein
"To teach is to touch a life forever."
"One Hundred Years from now It will not matter what kind of car I drove, What kind of house I lived in, how much money was in my bank account nor what my clothes looked like. But the world may be a better place because I was important in the life of a child."

Teachers
Paint their minds
and guide their thoughts
Share their achievements
and advise their faults
Inspire a Love
of knowledge and truth
As you light the path
Which leads our youth
For our future brightens
with each lesson you teach
Each smile you lengthen
Each goal you help reach
For the dawn of each poet
each philosopher and king
Begins with a Teacher
And the wisdom they bring
* Poem by Kevin William Huff
This first week of my summer break has been amazing! I am in such a great mood and I am having a blast with Tucker and Cooper. I thought I would share a photo of Cassius and Dutch snuggling with the boys this morning. I hope it brings a smile to your face like it did for me.
